This is the 2nd Strawberry Cup win for Jeff, once in his #55 car and now in the #92!

Race Time Radio Tuesday night 5pm (June 29) - Jeff had a radio interview!

The following article is from Canada West Racing

Merv Barcelo and Darren Yates shared the front row for the start of fourty laps of racing for the Strawberry Cup. The action started early as Yates, Barcelo, and Jeff Bird went three wide going through turn one after just two laps. Yates and Bird touched and leaned on each other but both drivers got through with Bird taking over the lead. Scott Aumen, who set fast time earlier, was on the move taking over the fourth spot on lap three and taking the third spot two laps later. Rob Scott and Rich Larson touched tires with Scott spinning around on lap six bringing out the first yellow. Bird had built a pretty good lead by this time and on the restart, and the field bunched up, Aumen quickly moved into the second spot on lap seven dropping Yates back to third while Bird started out fast to lead again.

On lap fifteen the yellow came out again as the throttle stuck on Aumen's #44 car putting him into the wall between turn one and two. Aumen was unhurt but his night was done. On the restart, Bird got away again with Yates now running second followed by Guy Barrett and Barcelo. Scott moved back in the mix on lap twenty-two taking over the fourth spot while up front Bird continued to open a big advantage. About this time a very light rain began to fall but not enough to halt the race however on lap twenty-nine Larson and Randy Vincent got together with both cars slamming into the wall on the backstretch. At this point the race was halted to check on the two drivers as well as what to do for the remaining laps. By the time the cars were pulled free, the rain had stopped and once the field could refire, the race would continue. Neither driver was hurt in the wreck but both had their run come to an end.

On the restart, Bird got away clean again with Yates, Scott, Barcelo, and Tony Menard running the top five positions.
During the red flag stoppage, Yates stated his car was a little loose and didn't think he could catch Bird and in fact, no one had anything for Bird in this race as he took the checkered flag and a Strawberry Cup victory. Action photos on Canada West Racing's Trackside page.

JUNE 4 & 5, 2010 - MERIDIAN IDAHO
DOUBLE HEADER AT MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY

The weather was touch-and-go on the first day.... a little rain in qualifying, a twister sighting(!) that did some damage just a short distance from the track (in Boise), and then dry enough conditions to get down to racing!
Day 2 was nice and sunny all day!

Friday: 7th in Qualifying (11.6 sec lap) - see VIDEO of qualifying
Jeff made that important transfer spot in the Heat Race
And in the 40-lap Main Event: 4th place! (21 cars)

Saturday: 6th in Qualifying (11.3 sec lap)
50-lap Main Event: Jeff was running in 4th place but finished 10th (of 20 cars) due to leaking rear tire pressure.

In the late Dan Fisher's #10 - now the new #55 with a CHEVY (sorry Dan!) :)

4th quick in Qualifying
3rd in the Heat Race
Crashed into the wall in the Main Event. Jeff is okay but the car needs more than a few new parts!
At least now Jeff has a mangled wheel of his own to match Dan's - both will be on display on the shop wall. LOL
